"The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus" - Philippians 4:7
March 25th marks the feast of "the Annunciation" when the Angel Gabriel told Mary she would conceive a child and name him Jesus. Nine months later, she gave birth to the Savior of the World.
Earlier this year, I spoke of coming to know Ivanka Demchuk, a Ukranian Iconographer
who lives and works in Lviv. This is a major city in western Ukraine that has experienced repeated shelling and attacks from Russia. Below is a brief video on one of her works, and the light that 'keeps us' while in the darkness.
"By the tender mercy of our God,
the dawn from on high will break upon us,
to give light to those who sit in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.” - Luke 1:78-79
"Annunciation" by Ivanka Demchuk
Prayer:
Pour your grace into our hearts, O Lord, that we who have known the incarnation of your Son Jesus Christ, announced by an angel to the Virgin Mary, may by his cross and passion be brought to the glory of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (collect from the Book of Common Prayer)
